How do I export the messages to iMovie and iDVD?
GuestReel provides some automated tools to greatly simplify the process of burning all of your messages to a DVD. There are two ways to do this:
Export directly to iDVD
Exporting directly to iDVD is the quickest way to burn a DVD, but with one drawback: the text messages left by users will not be displayed.
To export directly to iDVD, click on the “iDVD” tab in the left hand sidebar, and then on the “Export All Movies to iDVD”. This will create a new iDVD project for you with all of the messages.
Export to iDVD through iMovie
This process takes a little more time, but still very little effort. All of your messages are first exported to iMovie, and then they are exported from iMovie to a new iDVD project. This process will show the names and text messages left by users right in the videos itself. It also allows you to customize the messages before burning them to add a unique touch.
- With your GuestReel document open, click on “iMovie” in the left-hand sidebar.
- Select the template you would like to use for your messages from the list.
- Click on “Export All Movies to iMovie” in the top right corner.
- After the exporting is done, open up iMovie. From here you can touch up the messages if you desire, such as using custom titles or other effects.
- When you are happy with how all of the messages look in iMovie, return to GuestReel and click on “Prepare iMovie Projects for iDVD”. This step shares each project with the Media Browser, which is needed to export to iDVD. NOTE: This step will essentially take over your computer for some time, and may take over an hour depending on the number and length of messages, as well as the processing power of your computer. This may best be done overnight or while you’re away from your computer.
- When the all the messages have been prepared for iDVD, click on the “iDVD” item in the sidebar.
- Click on the “Export All Movies to iDVD” button. This will use your prepared iMovie videos when exporting to iDVD.
